Looking Ahead Into 2017!

Looking Ahead Into 2017

❓Would you like "in" on what's ahead for The Rural Sisterhood in 2017?❓

I can't wait to tell you! ?

I've been praying about and thinking on 2017 for quite awhile now, seeking God's wisdom for where He would like The Rural Sisterhood to go!

I spent some time looking back at 2016, so that I can learn from those lessons and move forward in 2017.

Finally, I began creating goals! Realistic, specific, measurable, goals! AND I want to share a few of those with you today!

Accountability is important and having friends who care, support and encourage you is key!

In 2017, The Rural Sisterhood will...

  1. Continue to be a place of support, encouragement and community for Rural Women in Ag!

  2. Continue to address the unique challenges that we face as women in Ag: handling overwhelm, finding balance, beating loneliness, and finding time to care for ourselves!

And (drum roll please).......

3. With the help of God...because there is no way I can do it on my own...I will be writing a devotional/study specifically for Women in Ag! It will speak specifically to the heart and struggles that we face as women in Ag. It was also be formatted in such a way that it is easily added into our busy, ever changing, and sometimes overwhelming lives!

With this expanded writing endeavor, I will be joined on The Rural Sisterhood blog, by some amazing, talented, fellow writers, and rural sisters in Ag!

They will be graciously sharing their thoughts and lessons learned! I will continue writing a blog post or two a month, but want to make sure that I devote enough time to the devotional, while not taking any more time away from my family! One of the posts I will continue to write is the Heart of The Rural Sister: Interview! I love getting to know other women in Ag and how they work their operations and I know you enjoy this too!

As I looked ahead at 2017, I looked in depth at what worked and didn't work in 2016, and as God’s plan for me and The Rural Sisterhood took shape, 2 words stood out to me!

The word that stood out to me for my personal life was “Present”.

As in staying present and not getting caught up in Facebook, my to do list, etc, and missing out on the little and important things with my family.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 says, “For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; a time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; a time to tear, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; a time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace.”

I decided to write out verse one in my planner as a reminder!

Looking Ahead into 2017

I want to make sure I'm staying “present”, and using my time wisely, in the proper season!

For The Rural Sisterhood, my word is “implement”!

During 2016, I spent a lot of time learning so many different things. Like how to set up email, how to create meaningful Facebook and blog posts, how to do Facebook ads, etc!

Although that time was well spent, towards the end of the year, I found myself getting stuck in learning mode and not implementing all that I had learned!

So in 2017, I will put what I learned into action, and "implement" it with determination and care!

This verse in 1 Peter 1:13 really spoke to my heart about taking action, remaining focused and trusting God’s gift of grace for the times I fail and the times that I feel that I am not enough or not qualified.

“Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.”

Through Him, I get my worth, I have success, and do not have to worry about failing!

Looking Ahead Into 2017

I've noticed that when I write things out and/or share them with a friend, they stick in my mind better! Thanks for letting me share, friend!
